California Deadlines for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
The last extension of time has expired. Here are the requirements:
Effective today | |
Applies to company size of: | 5 or more workers |
All Supervisors must train: | 2 hours every 2 years |
All Non-supervisory Personnel must train: | 1 hour every 2 years |
All migrant and seasonal agricultural workers must train: | 1 hour every 2 years |
All new full-time hires must train: | Within 6 months of hire |
All newly-promoted supervisors: | Must receive supervisor training within 6 months of assuming supervisory duties |
All new seasonal, temporary and other employees that are hired to work for less than 6 months: | Must train within 30 calendar days of hire, or within 100 hours worked, whichever occurs first |
Temporary workers supplied by a temporary or staffing agency: | Must be trained by the providing agency |

The legislation that required sexual harassment training of California businesses rolled out for new hires first, giving companies more time to train continuing employees (hired before 1/1/2018).
However, that extension of time ran out at year-end 2020.
